Visconti Homo Sapiens Lava Black Withbronze Fountain Pen Medium . Inspired by the Bronze Age, the period in which writing emerged more than 5,000 years ago, Homo Sapiens accordingly displays ancient materials and techniques. The body is forged from a proprietary formula of 50 percent basaltic volcanic lava obtained from the largest active volcano in Europe, Mt. Etna in Sicily and catalyzed with resin. The material is virtually shatter-proof and able to withstand heat up to 300 degrees F. The lava material is also slightly hygroscopic, which means it can absorb sweat while the pen is in use. The trims are forged from solid bronze. The fountain pens filling system is a double reservoir power filler that allows filling with a single hand, and it writes with a 23k solid palladium nib. Because the nib is virtually pure, it is significantly less susceptible to corrosion from ink.
